2nd Day Hairstyle for Shoulder Length Hair

Hi guys!

Ok, let’s be real…it’s more like 3rd day hair.
So I have always been one for washing my hair every other day. As long as I don’t exercise, I can generally go a couple days sans hair washing. However, if I start to push the limits, my hair does get really greasy pretty easily. Nothing a little dry shampoo can’t fix but for those days when nothing is going to save my hair, this is how I style it.

BRAIDS!

They are always the answer. If you are hair lazy, try to learn how to French or Dutch braid on yourself. There is nothing better for disguising a terrible hair day and then getting compliments on your hair.

Don’t know how to French/Dutch braid on yourself?
These are the two Youtube channels that taught me how to braid everything from regular French to fancy Crown braids:
1) Cute Girls Hairstyles
2) Kayley Melissa

Since cutting my hair short (for me this is short), I have been adapting my dirty hair braids to less length. With longer hair, I used to do crown braids. This is how I have adapted the crown braid for shorter hair.

Check it out!

I start by brushing out my hair to get all the tangles out then liberally applying dry shampoo to the roots. I try to leave the dry shampoo for several minutes before rubbing it in so that it can work some of its magic on my oily oily roots.

I part my hair where it naturally falls and separate my hair on either side. Starting near the part, I create one Dutch (inside-out) braid on either side of my head, staying near the face. Secure each with a small elastic.

Then you have two options

One, take each braid and secure it to my head with hairpins, laying one above the other. The trick to this step is to make sure that the ends are tucked in as well so that the braids look like one continuous one around the base of your skull.

Two, wrap the braids around each other, flat side flush to your head, and pin making a small flat bun. This is the easier of the two and what I did this day.

Finish by pulling some pieces loose around your face to soften it up!

Below are some crummy photos that I tried to take of the back of my head. But I think you can still get the general idea of how it turned out.
