Guide to Fall Boots for a Fashionista

fall boots - Nordstrom - Northwest Blonde - fashionista - boots guide
Today I wanted to tackle fall boots. It’s officially September so it only seems fitting. I think that there are only six types of boots that you should really need in your wardrobe. I know that ‘need’ is a strong word for most people’s opinion of boots, so consider this the Guide to Fall Boots for a Fashionista!

1) The Basic – This is a simple low heeled ankle boot that plays well with both skinny jeans and flare leg pants. Shades of brown are a great option for this style but this style by B.P. has a variety of colors to choose from. Sam Edelman’s classic and simple lines are a great option for those who want a lower heel

2) Open Toe/Heel – This is a simple way to dress up your jeans-and-tee look for fall time. These booties are a play off of classic heels but with a seasonal twist. Not the best for here in the Pacific Northwest (hello wet toes, not my favorite) but are great for adding a fall touch to an outfit while the temperatures are still warm.

3) Statement – They say boots were made for walking and these will start the party when you walk in. Consider these your ‘excess’ pair of boots. Not necessary but ya know, totally necessary at the same time. These should be a pair of boots that make you stand straighter, feel more confident, and brighten an otherwise gloomy day. Maybe think of them as your Monday shoes. I love this fringe pair by Steve Madden and  when in doubt leopard out like these Sam Edelman booties.

4) Equestrian – The classic fall look always includes some sort of equestrian style riding boots. I say splurge on a great pair as you will wear them every year without a doubt. Frye is the place to go for classic quality riding boots that form to your feet with wear and will last you a lifetime.

5) Over the Knee – The Pretty Woman look is back with a vengeance for fall and I love it! Over the knee boots add clean lines and a sleek silhouette to legs, especially on high heeled pairs. Not ready to rock your inner Vivian Ward? Test the waters with a low heel pair of over the knee boots. I’m lusting over Stuart Weitzman’s Lowland and Highland duo, however if the price point is a bitter pill to swallow, check out these options by Sam Edelman and Michael Kors

6) Weather Ready – When Mother Nature fails us, it’s great to have some weather appropriate footwear handy. Hunters, wellies, galoshes, or rain boots, no matter what you call them, these boots are getting a colorful makeover and are no longer simply black. Hello new world of color! Once winter arrives, these are easily swapped out for some sensible snow boots.

I love this! I’m actually heading to Seattle for college next month so boots are a must. Truthfully, I’ve never been much of a boots girl except for Uggs and Sperry Topsider rainboots, but I’m dying to get a few pairs of open toed/heel boots and equestrian boots! Thanks for sharing, Ana 🙂

  6. I have two pairs of riding boot-style tall boots. I think I am going to try booties this year- I’d love to get a gray pair.

I love ankle boots the most I think! They are a little less clunky than riding boots but still get the job done. Thanks for reading Valerie
