Over It All

how to wear overalls and still look cute

Old Navy Overalls (mine are old but they came out with a new version for this year. It’s very similar to my old pair. I’ve also heard great things about this Madewell pair) // J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck (a favorite of mine year after year. The warmth of a turtleneck but with the comfort of a tee shirt. Read my entire review here)  // similar peep toe booties (these look so similar and are on sale!) // similar little red bag // $10 Amazon Sunglasses

This returning trend is a definite blast from the past: overalls! At first, my initial response was to reject anything from my less than stylish past (hello purple corduroy overalls) but I’m glad they got a second chance. Distressed with a relaxed, slightly boyfriend feel, this denim is perfect for your weekend casual look. Now you may be looking at your computer screen as if you were reading the musings of a madwoman but hear me out.

Once you figure out how to wear overalls, they can be the perfect casual weekend wear. Just like all the other denim in your wardrobe, it’s all about fit and what you choose to pair it with. Since the overalls tend to be a little roomy, try pairing it with for fitted pieces like this turtleneck. And of course, like all other denim, it plays well with many different colors and patterns but don’t go crazy. The overalls themselves are a statement piece so pair wisely. I love the classic red structured bag with a hint of stripes to balance out the relaxed feel of the denim while still looking my age.

Are you a fan of overalls? Will you be testing out this trend over the summer? Let me know in the comments!

Such a cute look! I love the major pop of red. So classy. I was definitely skeptical of overalls at first, considering my mom pretty much never let me wear anything else as a child (can you say Osh Kosh?) but I think they’re so adorable if you style them right. And you definitely did!

Thanks Stephanie! I was on the same fence as you with overalls until I took the plunge to just test them out. I thought I would be returning this pair but I totally love them!

  6. You look adorable and I love how you modernized your overalls with the chic shoes and purse. I think of my 13 yr old self, so I doubt I’ll jump on that trend.

You look absolutely amazing in them. I live how you styled them. Everything about it. I’m too many years young to try it.(and by that I mean I’m too old)
I love seeing them on you though.
