5 Ways to Feel Feminine in Winter

feeling-feminine-in-winter

I don’t know about you but I’m cold! It seems like overnight but the temperatures are dropping and I’m breaking out the sweaters. It’s goodbye skin and hello layers through February for me!

Now, most of you lovely ladies are here because you love feminine classic style (you are #ClassicStyleGirls after all) but what are we to do about winter? Well, today I’m sharing 5 ways I keep my style feminine even in the depths of winter. Keep reading to have classic girl style all winter long!

1) ADD TIGHTS

The easiest way to keep rocking feminine skirts and dresses in winter is to simply add tights. I HIGHLY recommend fleece-lined tights like these ones which I wear all winter long. (I’ll even wear them under jeans or leather leggings on really cold days)

Don’t think that you have to be stuck with black. A nice thick pair of tights adds warmth but can also add a punch of color to your look. Just promise me you won’t wear flesh-colored…

2) TUCK IN YOUR LAYERS

While you might normally think to tuck in shirts and sweaters, when wearing feminine pieces with bulkier layers consider tucking in some of those layers, even if it’s just a half tuck.

Why bother with a tuck? Tucking in a layer or two gives your outfit some shape and will help enhance your waist (/remind everyone you have a waist) even if under a knit or two. Like this look today, I’m wearing a skirt with my shirt tucked in. I repeated this look (it’s our little secret so shhh don’t tell) with a light sweater on top for work and I gave the sweater a front half tuck so my waist was still visible.

3) EMBRACE YOUR INNER BLAIR WALDORF

While we all love Serena in the summer, Blair is a girl who knows fabulous winter style. Translating that for those who don’t speak Gossip Girl, embrace preppy style. Preppy style allows you to wear a base shirt with a button-up with a sweater topped with a peacoat along with a scarf and hat. Who would feel cold under all those layers? If you haven’t seen any images of Blair Waldorf winter style, go Google now for some serious inspo!

4) KNOW YOUR OUTERWEAR

In the deepest depths of winter, it can be hard to not reach for that warm puffer coat that is made for negative zero. However, before we get to those levels of cold, think about your outer most layer. Since your outer layer is the one most people will see, this is a great way to say to the world, that “yes I feel feminine even with several sweaters on”. If you are looking for a new winter coat with some personality, I recommend this coat as it comes in every color plus some!

5) AND WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, WEAR LIPSTICK!

It’s my failsafe way to feel just a little more feminine even on the worst outfit days. Slapping on some red (or burgundy #seasonal) lipstick is a quick and simple way to instantly elevate your mood and to remember that you are a classic style girl even under all the layers!
