Kicking Off The Holiday Party Season

velvet slip dress - holiday party style - louboutin pumps

We officially kicked off the holiday party season this weekend with my company holiday party. I planned on wearing this exact outfit but when it started snowing Saturday night I ended up deciding on something a little warmer.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but velvet started trending last winter and is only getting more popular this year. It’s a great fabric for this time of year as it adds a touch of glam to any outfit. I think it’s the visual warmth that ropes people into velvet outfits for the holiday season. That’s one of the several reasons I was more than happy my friend Jenn lent me this slip dress.

I think the amount of velvet I wore in the 90’s kind of turned me off to velvet when it reemerged last year but this year, I knew I’d have to try it out again. There are so many options out there from dresses to ankle boots to accessories

Finally, in honor of the new party season, I’ve added a ‘Holiday’ tab to my site. You’ll find all my past holiday-themed posts. This means holiday outfits, gift guides, and all the rest of the seasonal content.

Now, this is where you come in! I’d like to know how much seasonal content you want to see. All holiday party outfits all the time? Casual winter outfits? New or updated gift guides? Let me know so I can get started brainstorming ideas and content!

  1. Pretty dress! I love to see a good mix of holiday and regular posts. I don’t like being overwhelmed with everything holiday. Real life still goes on during these weeks too.

Thanks for the feedback! I have a feeling there will be at least one holiday-related post a week but I’ll keep it a healthy mix
