Laundry Day with Tide purclean

Today I’ve teamed up with Tide purclean to talk about something that’s a part of every fashionista’s life but not always so glamorous: laundry. For years, laundry day meant gathering up all our quarters and heading down the street to the nearest laundromat. We’d spend hours washing, drying, sorting, and folding (and fighting for the larger washing machines) with our neighbors. Now we own our own home with a washer and dryer, but laundry day is just as important.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that laundry day is important not only to have clean socks for the week but it also plays a huge role in the maintenance and longevity of our clothes. Today I’ve teamed up with Tide purclean to share three ways to maintain and make your clothes last longer.

3 Ways I Maintain My Clothes

1) Treat and wash dirty clothes right away

To keep little stains from becoming a permanent problem, treat and wash dirty clothes as soon as possible. I found that when I was doing smaller loads a couple days week versus several huge loads on the weekend, I had fewer issues with spots and stains. This means I’m able to go longer before I have to replace those favorite white tees and blouses that always manage to get pasta sauce on them.

2) Fold as soon as they’re done in the dryer

Hello, who has time to iron these days? #teamsteamer If I’m diligent about getting clothes out of the dryer and folded as soon as they hit the laundry basket, I’ve eliminated one step in my laundry day process. Not only that but if my clothes sit in the clean laundry hamper for a week, some delicate fabrics begin to develop permanent creases and wrinkles. I own a couple dresses that didn’t get hung up once they were done drying and there was nothing the iron or steamer could do to save them.

3) Don’t use too many harsh chemicals

I’ve recently made the switch to Tide purclean, the first plant-based detergent with the cleaning power of Tide. Why switch? First off, Tide purclean is free of dyes, chlorine, phosphates, ethanolamine and optical brighteners. Since I’m trying to remove anything unnecessary from my routine AND still get a great clean, it’s important for me to know what’s NOT in the bottle.

I picked up Tide purclean a couple weeks ago during my regular Target run and have been pleased with the results. You don’t have to worry about your clothes not getting a proper cleaning just because you’re taking a more natural route. Tide purclean is 70% plant-based, certified by the USDA BioPreferred program, and contains plant-based ingredients from plant, marine, forestry and other agricultural sources that provide a renewable alternative to petroleum-based ingredients. Plus Tide purclean is HE-compatible and is produced at a facility that uses 100% renewable wind electricity and has zero manufacturing waste to landfill.

This last fact was actually a huge sell on this product to my husband. As a household, we are really conscious about our eco-footprint and try to do our part in recycling, composting, and minimizing our consumable waste. My husband works in manufacturing and knows just how much waste is produced when creating the products that end up on our store shelves. The fact that we can now put our money where our mouths are when it comes to another area of our lives means a great deal.

You can find Tide purclean in the laundry aisle at your local Target. I purchased the Honey Lavender scented version but it is also available in unscented. Buy Tide purclean in store using your Cartwheel app for a discount until mid-September!

Have you tried a natural or plant-based laundry detergent? What did you think? Pick up some Tide purclean during your next Target run and let me know if you’ll be making the switch as well!

Until next time,
Ana Luiza
