BB/CC Creams for Oily Skin (at every price)

In the past year or so, I’ve started stepping away from really heavy makeup. While I still love a long wearing foundation for those 14 hour days, my day-to-day doesn’t really require it. That started a journey to find a lighter foundation that would still last all day (an 8 hour work day) on oily skin without totally breaking down. I’ve gone through some seriously terrible products but I found several different gems within all the rough. Just keep reading to see my top three picks for BB Creams for oily skin at every price.

Drugstore: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

My favorite drugstore pick is the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream. The trick with this product is to get the one SPECIFICALLY for oily skin. It lasts WAY longer than the one for regular or sensitive skin.

It provides about mid-range coverage. The product itself lasts the shortest amount of time on my skin before breaking down out of all three of these BB creams but is the most bang for your buck, about $11 for two ounces. Plus a little setting powder goes a long way in helping this product last all day long.

There are a couple of downsides about this BB Cream. First off, there are only three shades. I use Light/Medium and it matches my skin (fair with warm undertone) both in the winter and in the summer. I think, don’t quote me on this, that it has some sort of skin tone matching technology that allows it to match a wider range of skin tones than a regular foundation. The second downside of this product is that it can be hard to find. I usually get mine at Ulta but it is available online at all the regular drugstores (Target, Walgreens, etc).

Mid-Range: It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

As a mid-range CC cream option for oily skin, you can’t go wrong with It Cosmetics. This formula has it all. It has seven different shades, contains SPF 50, 4.5 star reviews, and is easy to find in stores. It really does give you a perfected look with just a single pump of product. Go try it on in stores just to see for yourself.

This It Cosmetics CC cream does give a medium to high coverage depending on how much product you use. I’ve found that when I really start to pack on the product, it will actually break down faster then if I only use one coat then follow up with either concealer or powder. Another aspect that I love about this foundation? Since it includes SPF 50, I can skip my regular SPF when I’m wearing this product. This also helps with the longevity.

Con? It breaks down part way through the day if you don’t use setting powder. I’d highly recommend that you use the It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation, their matte powder foundation, in conjunction with the CC cream for more coverage and increased longevity.

High End: Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

This is one of the best CC creams I’ve ever tried and that may be because it’s not quite technically a CC Cream. This is the lightweight version of Estee Lauder’s Double Wear foundation. It is slightly thicker in consistency and comes in a paint tube but a little product gets you a long way. Also, while it feels thick coming out of the tube, it manages to feel lighter on the skin throughout the day versus the original formula which is the opposite (thinner consistency but starts to feel heavy on the skin).

This product provides long-lasting wear and medium to high coverage. I’d describe it as a my-skin-but-better situation and it wears well throughout the day. Think Double Wear staying power but your skin doesn’t look like a makeup mask by the end of the day. The shades for this come in different intensities and there are about five options and each intensity has its own range of shades.

The Cons of the Double Wear Light? Mainly the price point. This is a high-end beauty product that is only available where Estee Lauder products are sold (department stores, Sephora, Ulta) but that means there’s a matching price tag: about $40 for 1.0oz of product. The good news is a little goes a very long way.

I hope this helps all my oily skinned gals out in the makeup department. I went through some terrible products so you don’t have to I hope.

Have you tried any of these three CC creams? Did I miss any of your favorites? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,

I’ve never tried the oily skin one but I bet it’s amazing. Just from trying and liking the regular one, I can only imagine that I’d like that version too.
