5 Minute Mom Makeup

While I’m calling this “mommy makeup” because it is my new and improved daily makeup routine for the days that I”m with Teddy (all of them basically) but you don’t have to be a mom to appreciate a real quick makeup look. Yes, I’m talking 5 minutes or less.

This all got started when a favorite blogger of mine (not naming any names) shared her mom duty makeup look. It was approximately 20 steps, included eyeshadow and contour, and basically seemed totally unattainable in my eyes. How can she manage a full face of makeup and four kids?! I really don’t understand!

Rather than feel down and out about myself since she has her life that together and I really don’t (seriously though, teach me your ways!) I figured that there must be other new moms like me out there who can barely keep the family clean, clothed, and feed let alone worry about makeup.

Without further adeiu, here’s my five-minute mom makeup

Five Minute ‘Mom’ Makeup

SunscreenNo matter what, I always wear sunscreen, even if it’s not sunny out. Just do it. Your skin will thank you in 20-40 years.

(Optional) Tinted FoundationIf I’ve had a couple of bad night, haven’t been drinking enough water, or just generally need an extra little something, I’ll use this Neutrogena anti-aging perfector (it’s basically a tinted moisturizer). It blurs imperfections and evens skin tone just a little bit without being a full foundation. This is a very low maintenance product that you could wear on its own.

Concealer – It hides all sins and sleepless nights. I go ahead and use this concealer anywhere that I have redness, blemishes, or dark circles (I also really like this Neutrogena concealer for under the eyes but it doesn’t hold up against really bad dark circles). Blend that in with whatever you’ve got on hand – brush, sponge, fingers.

(Optional) PowderMy skin has returned to its oily self now that I’m seven months postpartum so I’ve started using a little powder to set my concealer. I use this Neutrogena powder and a $3 e.l.f. Brush.

Blush – Want to be real quick? Try a cream blush. It’s easy to dab it straight onto your cheeks, no brushes needed. I’ll use it someday but I also like the powder blush counterpart

Mascara – Second to concealer, this is my must-do-this step. I prefer a volumizing mascara over lengthening but you do you. This is the one that I’m using right now. It adds nice “natural” volume without needing tons and tons of coats. The applicator also is fairly mess-free, which means no need to clean up mascara that gets on my eyelid!

That’s it! You’re done!

Notice that lipstick isn’t on here? Yeah, your red lipstick loving friend here has set all my lipstick on hold for the moment because I spend way too much time kissing my sweet babe all day long and I don’t want to transfer any onto him. But I mean, have you seen this kid’s cheeks?! I really can’t be blamed.
