My Favorite Workout Staples

Bluephonic Sport Wireless Headphones // Old Navy Tie Back Tee //  Brooks Ravenna Running Shoes // Old Navy Elevate Leggings // Nike Fleece Joggers // C9 Champion Running Shorts // Hydro Flask Tumbler //  Z by Zella Pullover // Batiste Dry Shampoo // Contigo Water Bottle // Old Navy Tie Back Tank // Brooks Revel Running Shoes

I mentioned in a post last month that I’ve finally been investing in some new workout gear. I haven’t spent any money on my gym clothes in years and I’m pretty sure that I’ve had these same leggings since I graduated from high school. Since that is now officially in the past decade, I thought it was about time to say goodbye and start new.

Since my finding all new and functional gym gear started right before the holidays, I’ve had some time to test run (see what I did there) all my new pieces and share my favorites with you guys. I hope that if you have any New Year resolutions regarding fitness, this will help you out with your goals (because dressing the part is half the battle, am I right?!)

My Favorite Workout Staples

Leggings: Old Navy Elevate Powersoft 7/8 Leggings

OMG these were my favorite find of 2019! Buttery soft leggings that aren’t too long and only $35! I’m completely in love. I have an entire review of these lined up for the upcoming week so keep a lookout for that. I have these in maroon and navy and I love them both. The maroon pair does show sweat stains but the navy pair doesn’t. A final thing to love about these leggings, they have three different inseam options so no matter your height, you can get great ankle-length leggings for your workouts.

Head Phones: Bluephonic Sport Wireless Headphones

Last year, I finally got a pair of Bluetooth headphones and I still love them! They were even featured on my holiday gift guide this year. They are only $30, the battery lasts forever, and they stay in your ears no matter if you’re running or weight lifting.  These are great for at the gym but I will say that you can’t take calls on them. They don’t have a speaker/mic feature but this newer version from the pair I own does have the full Bluetooth headset capabilities.

Running Shoes: Brooks Ravenna

I have been wearing Brooks running shoes for years now and I am a total fan! The Ravenna 8s were the shoes that I wore when I ran my first half marathon but they are now at the 10th edition of that running shoe. If you’re a local to Seattle, you can go into their Trailhead Store and get fitted by an expert. They’ll have you run on a treadmill, analyze your gait, and get you in the best shoes for your specific needs.

Workout Shoes: Brooks Revel

For workouts that don’t include running, I still wear Brooks (didn’t believe me when I said I was a fan?) but the Revel shoe instead of the Ravenna. This style is a shoe that is more of an all-in-one shoe so it’s nice for running but also HIIT workouts and everything inbetween

Water Bottle: Contigo

I just accidentally happened upon these water bottles when Andrew and I needed some so I just grabbed these when they were being sold as a three-pack at Costco. Overall, they are fine. I like that there is the extra spill protection now that Teddy plays (aka chews on and throws them about) with them. Since there were three, we each have one of our own now.

Shorts: C9 Champion

I don’t usually work out in shorts but sometimes in the summer months, it really can’t be helped. Andrew got me a workout set (shorts and a tank) from Champion at Target for my birthday and I really like the shorts. I haven’t been wearing them much right now but once it starts to warm up, I’ll be breaking them out again.

Joggers: Nike Fleece Joggers

My mom gifted these to me while I was pregnant and they are so comfortable! We’re talking serious cozy factor. I basically wore them throughout the entire second half of my pregnancy and I still wear them today. The only problem is that I have a size large (to accommodate the belly) and they are too big now. While they still work, they hang really low on my hips so I might be tempted to repurchase and get my normal size.

Sweatshirt: Z by Zella Pullover

Another item I wore throughout my pregnancy is my Z by Zella sweatshirt. It’s super soft but on the thinner side so I never get too warm while I’m wearing it. The exact one that I have is sold out but this one looks like it’s the updated version from this year.

Tanks: Old Navy Breath On Tie Back Tanks

I LOVE these Old Navy activewear tanks! They are so light and airy that I never feel stuffy or confined during my workouts. They have a tie back feature so you can leave them looser like a regular tank or tie a knot in the back to make it more fitted and cropped. It’s a nice two-in-one feature. Plus they are regularly on sale for about $10.

Tees: Old Navy Breath On Tie Back Tees

Not a fan of tank tops? Old Navy also has these tie back tees. I have one in light grey and I really like it for all the same reasons I like the tanks. Super lightweight and breathable material. Great affordable price.

Dry Shampoo: Batiste Clean & Light Bare

Because who has time to wash their hair every day? I’ve been using Batiste Dry Shampoo for years now and it’s a great product for a very reasonable price. I prefer the Clean & Light Bare scent as it’s the one with the least amount of fragrance. Some of their more wild scents wear like perfume and are too strong for me.

Tumbler: Hydro Flask 22 oz

While I like the Contigo as my water bottle, I use my HydroFlask tumbler for warm drinks every single day. I’ll make myself a cup of tea around 8 am most days and it’s still warm and drinkable at 3 pm. Andrew has a Yeti (we are a family divided), which is also really nice. I just like that mine fits into standard size cupholders (and is pink).

Playlists: Spotify Workout Playlist

Spotify is where I get most of my music these days. I love that they have pre-built playlists that you can select based on your mood and that is where I tend to get my music. Their Workout playlist is regularly updated and songs are rotated in/out so you never really get bored. I also have been listening to the New Year’s 2019 playlist a lot lately. Two other favorites: Have a Great Day! and Cooking & Drinking

Workout: High Fitness

It’s no secret that I love cardio workouts. I’m currently obsessed with High Fitness. It’s a high-intensity interval class that is choreographed to upbeat music. Think burpees meet aerobics and you’re on the right path. It’s so much fun! I leave every single class drenched in sweat and in a great mood.

But I’m generally a cardio queen, I like most cardio classes. SoulCycle and FlyWheel are also favorites although I don’t attend as often as I’d like. I still haven’t tried Orange Theory or Barry’s Bootcamp. On days when I’m not going to High Fitness, I’ll do a BBG workout and run sprints on the treadmill.

Sports Bra: still searching

This is where I need your help. I still haven’t found a nice sports bra that I really like. I’ve tried Nike, Brooks, Sweaty Betty, and Victoria’s Secret and I still don’t have one that I completely love. Let me know if you have any favorites that you reach for again and again.
