Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

how to make s'mores on the grill - how to make s'mores without a fire

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!
To say that this year’s 4th of July is going to be different than the past ones is putting it mildly. All parades, street fairs, and fireworks have been canceled due to the coronavirus. Parties with friends, backyard BBQs and general gatherings have also been strongly discouraged. We’ll be doing our part to slow the spread by staying home and celebrating together.

However, there are things that I’m excited about going on this weekend! First up, Hamilton on Disney+. We have a mandatory family viewing party scheduled for this evening and I’m SO EXCITED! I’ve never been able to get tickets to the Broadway show but I love the soundtrack and everything that I’ve seen on Youtube. Lin Manuel-Miranda is a once in a generation musical genius and looks like a just all-around nice person.

Second, cherry pie. My parents have a sour cherry tree at their house that has been growing out of control this year. My dad sent me home with several bags worth of frozen cherries so I could make pies for the Fourth. I haven’t made pie in years so we’ll have to see how my crust turns out. My skills may be a little rusty.

Next, gingham check plates. I have plates that look like these that I pull out throughout the summer. This is your moment to shine gingham plates! Do your thang.

Finally, s’ mores, bonfires, and sparklers. These are just my favorite part of summer in general but my sister-in-law bought some sparklers so this weekend’s bonfire can have a special holiday flair.

Now if you are bummed about Fourth of July being super low key this year, I get it. Normally it’s a really big deal here too with parades, concerts, and whatnot. But if you want to drown your sorrows in some holiday weekend retail therapy, I’m only here to enable you. There are some seriously killer sales going on this weekend. I’ve got the best ones listed out for you below along with all of my favorites from those stores. I hope you have a safe holiday weekend. Enjoy!

Side note: This year more than any other in my lifetime are we reminded that Independence Day was originally only designated to a very select few. I wanted to say that you can still deeply love this country all while looking at its past and acknowledging that horrific wrongs were and are committed in her name. To me, loving this country means that we are always striving to make her better and “a more perfect union” for all of those who have the good fortune to call this incredible country home. Ann Taylor – up to 80% off sale styles
Crate and Barrel – up to 30% off sitewide

I actually just purchased a bunch of new dinnerwear for our house. We have been slowing breaking all our bowls to the point where we have a bowl. Their essentials line is really nice, crisp, simple, and very affordable. I also got a set of bistro bowls (we were down to two of those), and a couple of other random items. We used them for our wedding registry so we actually have quite a few C&B pieces in our kitchen.

J.Crew – 50% off full-price styles, up to 70% off sale styles

We all know that I love J.Crew. Their clothing comprises a large portion of my wardrobe. So many of my favorites and most worn pieces are on sale this weekend. The Sophie sweater blazer, this 3/4 length stripe tee, this pink tee shirt dress, the list goes on!

J.Crew Factory – up to 70% off everything

Another favorite of mine with so many good steals. These chambray pants I wear all summer long. The schoolboy blazer is a staple.

Loft – extra 60% off sale items

Seriously crazy discounts on Loft right now. This adorable tucan print dress that I’ve been eyeing is $35! Also, the most comfortable jumpsuit is 50% off

Madewell – extra 30% off
Old Navy – 75% off clearance

What’s more Americana than Old Navy on the 4th of July?! They go all in and while wearing stars and stripes isn’t for me, I salute them for keeping it up year after year since my childhood. Old Navy is my go-to for affordable and functional workout gear. I seriously love these leggings for high impact workouts. They just released a bike short version that are only $20 and part of the sale too!
