The great living room remodel is still in the planning stages resulting in me doing some deeeeep scrolls on Wayfair looking at furniture. As I mentioned in my last update, I’m going to follow your suggestions and start with the bigger items, ie a couch.
Now, this is hard for me as I freeze up with it comes to actually making a decision and putting a significant amount of money behind it. I mentioned this before but I don’t have the option to order something, decide I don’t like it, then get something else. It’s got to be one and done.
So sofas. There are so many to chose from. So many.
Going in I was pretty certain what I wanted but somewhere along the way, I was looking at Chesterfield couches and seriously considering them.
So what’s the difference between a regular sofa and a Chesterfield style sofa? Basically, it’s just sofa with rolled arms and button tufting. The fancy name is after the Earl of Chesterfield back in the 19th century but it is thought to be simply a marketing tactic back to when the style originated. A fancy name for a fancy couch. Didn’t actually have anything to do with the aristocracy.
While I don’t think that we’ll end up going with a Chesterfield style couch, I do like the look. But it’s darn near impossible to find this style for under $2,000. However, all those deep scrolls were not in vain. I discovered a handful of chesterfield couches for under $1,000. Some are just priced lower but others are on sale.

This sofa only comes in the one color. What makes it different is that it is more “modern” looking as it’s not as rounded off as the others.
This option from World Market retails for around $750 but I’ve seen it go on sale for as low as $499. It also has over a hundred positive reviews.
This couch from the Kelly Clarkson Home Collection is one of the cheapest options. It is on sale for 50% off which brings the price down to around $550.
This faux leather couch is currently the cheapest of the lot at just around $550. It’s also available in other colors like green and purple.
Martha Stewart Collection for Macy’s has this Chesterfield couch on major sale right now. It comes in about ten different color options and there is also a matching love seat and arm chair.
This really traditional option is actually priced really reasonably at $680 at full retail price. I imagine it will be almost a steal once it goes on sale.
