No Makeup Makeup

Hi guys!

Yesterday, I mentioned that I wore a “no makeup makeup” look for Mother’s Day and want to share it with you guys. I like to give my skin a bit of a break from the usual heavy duty foundation that I use and lately I have been liking this look. I wore it the past couple weekends and have tweeked it so it’s just right. This look has the perfectly balance of concealing my skin imperfections without looking too done at the same time.

I like to focus on having really healthy looking skin to give me that natural maybe she’s born with perfect looking skin (but no, it’s Maybelline). I’ll spend most of my time on that and not worry much about the eyes, lips, etc.

1) I like to start with a washed and moisturized face. Using a primer also allows for more even and smooth application of your foundation of choice but it is an extra step that sometimes I skip

Products I Used: Cetaphil Daily Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin, CeraVe AM Face Lotion, Maybelline Babyskin Instant Pore Eraser Primer

2) Choose a foundation or BB cream for light coverage and apply with your fingers or a damp makeup sponge. I concentrated on the center of my face and worked the product outwards, blending with my fingers.

Products I Used: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Skin Perfector with SPF 30 in Light/Medium

3) With concealer, I went over all my spots and lightly blended the product in with my fingers. With a lighter concealer, I gently tapped some product underneath my eyes to cover my dark circles. I spend a little more time on this step than any other as I try to achieve the perfect balance of concealed spots without looking too heavy and cakey. I set everything with a powder that is close to my skin tone for a hint more coverage and to remove any shininess.

Products I Used: Revlon Colorstay Concealer in Light/Medium, L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Concealer in Light, and L’Oreal True Match Powder in W3

4) Lastly, I give my eyelashes a good curl and apply several coats of a brown mascara.

Products I Used: e.l.f. eylash curler, Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara in Brown

And that is pretty much all I do! You can add or subtract from this look really easily to make it work for you. Sometimes I will slap some tinted lipbalm on or just go bare depending if I’m running out the door.

Let me know if you guys try this look out!
What is your take on “no-makeup makeup” looks? While it seemed a little silly to me at first, this type of look has been growing on me.

Until next time,

It's pretty good for a BB cream. I like it because it has spf 30 (I bought it for a vacation) but it might not be the best for everyday wear if you have oily skin.

the Holly trinity: eye liner, eyelash curler and mascara can do miracles when you don't feel like putting your whole face together ; )
