Feeling Comfortable (and Confident) in White Jeans

Hello, ladies! Today I wanted to share with you a little secret of mine: I don’t like wearing white jeans. If you read this recent post, you already know that denim and I already have a fraught relationship but something about having the light bright color, normally a favorite of mine, on my legs makes me self-conscious and uncomfortable.

After some very scientific crowd research (aka asking my co-workers and friends), I realized that I’m not alone in this sentiment. Lots of us women are self-conscious about our legs, hips, bum, and thighs. Adding white into the mix is just too much for many of us and we choose to skip it altogether.

But here’s where the problem lies. For us fashionistas, does that mean we have to just skip out from spring and summer trends that involve white denim? I’m here to say no, there are ways that we can all feel comfortable and confident in white jeans. I’ve got the how-to and broken it down step by step for you babes.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT

First off, you need a pair of jeans that actually fit. I know we all hate shopping for jeans but a good fit can make or break you, especially with white jeans. This means no bunching, stretching, pulling, gapping, squeezing. We are looking for both comfort and confidence. You probably won’t feel either if your pants don’t fit and you’re constantly adjusting them.

My #1 tip for this is to grab your favorite pair of regular jeans and see if they make the exact same pair in white. That’s what I’ve done here today and am wearing my all time favorite jeans, the Paige Verdugo Ankle, only in white rather than blue.

GET YOUR FAVORITE STYLE

Since white jeans aren’t something you’re likely to wear all year long, make sure you choose a cut that is your favorite. This not only helps you get the most style (or bang, if you will) for your buck. Another reason to choose your favorite cut of denim is that you are more likely to be both comfortable and confident in a denim shape you know already flatters you.

My same tip as the one above goes here. Find something similar, if not exactly the same, as the pair you already love. Whether you love skinny jeans, boot cut, or boyfriends, make sure you are sticking to what you know for now.

KICK ASS STYLING

Now that you’ve got a great fitting pair of jeans, it’s time to talk styling! I firmly believe that you can wear white jeans in just as many ways as you can regular blue jeans. White is a neutral so that means it makes for a perfect blank canvas for anything else you’d like to pair with your denim. Need a jumping off point? WHAT TO WEAR WITH WHITE JEANS

• black and white stripe tee + white jeans + black flats
• chambray button up + white jeans + brown shoe
• solid black tee + white jeans + sneakers + moto jacket
• any white top + white jeans + sandals (monochrome = always chic!)
• gingham shirt + white jeans + brown wedges

Oh and don’t forget to slip a Tide To Go pen into your handbag just in case, ’cause ya know, white jeans 😉
