6 Great Vegan Restaurants in Seattle

why we changed to a vegan diet - northwest blonde - seattle style blog

Guys, it’s happening! Nobody panic but restaurants are starting to slowly open back up for outdoor seating in Seattle. I for one can’t wait to be able to go out on a dinner date with my husband or brunch with my friends. We don’t normally eat out often in normal pre-pandemic life but since I was told I can’t go to a restaurant, it makes my desire to go on a dinner date that much stronger. Contrary of me, I know.

However, when my favorites open back up again, I’ll be ready to visit all my favorite spots again.

Andrew and I went 100% plant-based last year. So far so good and we have zero regrets. I don’t follow it as strictly as Andrew does (I’ll eat something with honey in it. I’ve also had cheese a couple of times in the past six months) but we are planning on keeping it up for now. If you are interested in why we went fully vegan, I have an in-depth post that you can read here. Otherwise, let’s get to the best vegan restaurants in Seattle!

The Best Vegan Restaurants in Seattle

Plum Bistro

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in Seattle. I love their brunch menu though sometimes their food can be a bit on the heavy side. But don’t let that deter you! Everything on their brunch menu is absolutely delicious. I’ve gone sweet, I’ve gone savory. They are all great!

They also have a satellite bistro, Pantry by Plum Bistro, in the Seattle Center where I used to get lunch sometimes (I used to work across the street). There you can get lighter fare like fresh juice, salads, and grain bowls.

No Bones Beach Club

This is a small hole in the wall location in Ballard with a really fun atmosphere. We went for dinner for our anniversary in 2019 and had a good time. Fun drinks, beach-inspired foods. It’s a little taste of Hawaii in Seattle (or Portland or Chicago). Make sure to check out their themed bathrooms while you’re there. One is pink flamingo, the other is blue fish.

Heads up that they don’t take reservations so prepare to wait in line. It’s a small location and quite popular. We lucked out when we went and managed to get a table outside on a nice day but poor weather means no patio, which means longer wait times.

Cafe Flora

We went for Valentine’s Day several years ago and I remember it being really good. It’s very Instagramable that’s for certain! Now they have a satellite bistro at SeaTac airport and a bakery that specializes in vegan and gluten-free pastries opening in 2020.

Araya’s Place

All vegan Thai food! This Thai restaurant chain is really good and the prices are comparable to non-vegan Thai restaurants. They have three locations around Seattle and one in LA. Andrew and I went to the one in the University District a couple of times when I was pregnant. I just loved that we didn’t have to ask or worry about non-vegan sauces but still got amazing flavor.

Veggie Grill

It’s a major chain so you know at least it’s reliable. I’m kinda “meh” about the food sometimes but I’ve probably eaten at Veggie Grill more than all the other restaurants combined. It’s a great spot for quick fast-casual dining. There are three locations in Seattle: Downtown, University Village, and South Lake Union.

I’ve tried a bunch of their salad bowls and the hot sandwiches. All are 100% plant-based and generally good. My tip? Always get the sweet potato fries! They are always nice and crispy, not soggy.

Next Level Burger

Another chain that is 100% plant-based but this one isn’t claiming to be healthy and omg it’s so good! It’s inside the Whole Foods on Roosevelt but really shouldn’t be missed if you want plant-based burgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes. There are so many options and all of them look delish! Andrew and I went once after an afternoon of kayaking and we devoured everything. Not a healthy option though. Seriously, these are all over the top burgers and decadent milkshakes. Go look at their menu to see some of the pictures!
