Holiday Decor for Kids

I’m getting started on my holiday stuff even earlier than normal this year as baby 2.0 is due right around the holidays and I want to make sure everything is ready and stress-free when she actually arrives. Part of my plan this year is to decorate Teddy’s room and I’m so excited. He is really getting into holiday themes this year. He requested to have one of our carved pumpkins in his room so they can hang out and chat.

So to that end, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for kid-friendly holiday decorations to use in his room. And let’s be honest, around our house in general because nothing is sacred anymore. Here are the kid-friendly holiday decorations that I’ve been eyeing!

Kid-Friendly Holiday Decorations

Metal Dinosaur Ornaments

The first thing I want to do is get a little tree for Teddy’s room. This means unbreakable ornaments. These metal ones from World Market are a good option. I like how they are so bright and colorful.

Felt Dog Ornaments

I like the idea of felt ornaments for kids since they can play with them and not break or destroy them. These festive felt puppy ornaments would look really cute on a kid’s tree.

Felt Penguin Ornaments

These felt penguins would look cute with the felt dog ornaments.

Mickey Mouse Christmas Bedding

Pottery Barn has a bunch of great holiday-themed bedding for kids. There is Mickey Mouse, The Grinch, Star Wars, and more. Personally, I find that PBKids is a little bit more than I generally want to spend but you don’t have to buy the entire bedding set. You can pick and choose which pieces you want. So I might get him a special Mickey Christmas pillow or pillowcase.

Felt Pom Pom Garland

I think I might add this garland around his tree instead of lights so I don’t have to worry about outlets, electricity, etc. It’s a great price and adds color

Felt Holly Garland

This would be fun anywhere in your home, draped on shelves or mantels but, again, it’s all felt so much more child-friendly than other options.

Felt Wreath

This is a beautiful felt wreath that I would hang in a window or above a dresser.

Wooden Nativity Set

This wooden nativity scene is a simple one but brightly colored for kids. I don’t think it was made for kids to play with but it’s only $20 so it won’t be the end of the world if it gets well-loved throughout the holiday season.

Melissa & Doug Nativity Set

This is another wooden nativity option that is more detailed and was made more for play than just looking at.
