This past weekend we went on an outing to our local playground so Ted could test out his new McLaren scooter. Given that he’s three now, this is actually his first time having a scooter of his own. He’s tried out some of his friends’ scooters and loved it but we never felt like the time was right to get him one of his own. However, when McLaren generously reached out, I knew it was a great opportunity to introduce him to a new mode of transportation.
As soon as his scooter arrived, he lit up with excitement and couldn’t wait to open the box and test it out. Luckily for me, it arrived in two parts that are extremely simple to assemble. No power tools needed! Within minutes we had it assembled so we grabbed his helmet and off we went.
As he scooted down the street, he was talking to himself under his breath “scoot, scoot, scoot.” It was adorable. However, it did take us about three times longer than normal to get to the playground and every parent knows exactly how this outing ended and who was left scooting home (scroll to the bottom to see the trip home).
Overall his three-wheel McLaren scooter has been a great addition to our life. Because it was so easy to assemble and now is so easy to store with a minimal footprint, we get plenty of use out of it whether that is for a trip to the playground, out to the mailbox, or just around the neighborhood.
