Nine Months In, Nine Months Out

Teddy 9 month update - 9 months in, 9 months out

Last week marked the point when Teddy has officially been outside of my body longer than he was inside of it. It seems totally nuts to me that he’s already  9-months old. What happened to the time? Where is my squishy little baby that did nothing but sleep and coo at me? Now I have a baby that’s always on the move, never slowing down or stopping for anything or anyone. For real though! “Why crawl, when you can run?” should be this kid’s motto. I don’t know what I’m going to do with him this winter…

Teddy 9 month update - 9 months in, 9 months out

Here’s a little of what’s new with Teddy:

Like I said before, this kid doesn’t stop moving! Once he realized that he could move, that was the end of my peace. He’s always on the go and always trying to mess with whatever he can get his hands on. If we’re sitting at the table, everything has to go in his mouth then on the floor. Crawls over to the bookshelf? Pull down all the books that he can get his hands on. Sees the tv remote? Direct bee-line for it. Repeat for about12 hours a day.

On that note, he’s all about standing up and walking. He can’t walk independently (yet) but that doesn’t stop him from trying. His favorite thing is standing at the coffee table and walking around and around it while checking out his toys and books that live there now (RIP my cute coffee table).

This kid LOVES books! He’s happy to sit (or stand) with one and turn the pages and point to the different colorful pictures. This peek-a-boo book is a new favorite.

Two little teeth have popped up. Sometimes he’ll just sit and feel them with his fingers or his tongue and I think it’s just the cutest. You have to imagine that it’s a similarly odd sensation like after you have braces taken off.

He’s been a great travel buddy because he’s totally down with being out and about. I can slip him in the stroller and go about my day and he’s completely content to sit and look at people as we amble along.

Some baby products that we’ve been using over the last nine months:
  • We use this white noise machine for Teddy every night We liked it so much that Andrew just ordered another one for our room
  • Our stroller was a hand-me-down from friends but it has served us very well between travel and city/suburban living. It’s one of the more affordable options on the market as well.
  • Since Teddy started sleeping on his stomach, we’ve started using these mattress protectors and they’ve worked out a charm. (If you know, you know)
  • Teddy stopped nursing around 6-7 months and we’ve been using these bottles since then. They are really easy to clean and otherwise have no bells and whistles which is totally my jam when it comes to baby gear.
  • This activity mat transitions into a ball pit (granted with very few balls) and it’s been the newest hit around here.
  • I’ve been making Teddy’s baby food at home and these extra-large ice cube trays have been super handy in batch cooking and freezing
