Happy Monday all! I hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing weekend. We had a pretty calm one here at Chez Creighton. We did our normal Saturday routine but ended it with a little date night. Andrew and I went out for a late dinner before going to see Tom Papa do stand up. It was a really fun show. I’d never seen any of his work before but it was right up my alley. Funny without being lewd or rude. Personally, I don’t really like comedians that are raunchy or use a lot of foul language. It’s just not for me. But he wasn’t either of those things. He has a special on Netflix that had a lot of the material we saw if you’re interested.

Sadly Teddy didn’t have so great of a weekend. He napped for a long time on Saturday then woke up feverish, poor guy. He had a fever all day Sunday as well so we ended up just cuddling on the couch for a major part of Sunday. It’s so sad to see him all defeated and lethargic rather than his non-stop self. Hopefully, he can kick this quickly especially since this week is going to be busy.

It’s wedding week for my sweet friend Megan! I can’t believe it’s already here and she’s getting married on Saturday. We have a full week with the rehearsal and dinner, nail and hair appointments, and various other festivities. I’m looking forward to it and seeing her in all her glory on her special day. It’s going to be beautiful!

But onto the namesake of today’s post.

I was going to title this post “I love coats and I cannot lie” because, for someone who loves summer so much, I have a ridiculous number of coats and blazers in my closet. I think it just goes to show the reality of my life includes wearing layers and needing warm outerwear. So why not have options?

This time of year I always end up looking through my coat closet for the ones that I haven’t worn to death yet and for my favorite colorful coats. Since the weather is pointing towards spring, I’m 100% on board and encouraging it by wearing plenty of colors rather than your typical black parka.

Sadly my exact coat is old but this Marks and Spencer car coat looks VERY similar. Honestly, it looks even nicer than mine because it actually has buttons. While I love my version of this emerald green car coat, it’s not the most practical since you can’t close it without wearing an added belt. This new take has the same shape and pretty color but also comes with a belt so you don’t have to MacGyver your own.

I also wore this same outfit with my Madewell loafers and giant tote bag. It makes this exact same look way more functional for my everyday life. As much as I like heels, I need to be able to cart around a toddler and all his stuff with me on a daily basis. Heels are only for Teddy-free days for the time being.

Here is some more info on my outfit from the toes up:

Banana Republic Madison 12-Hour Heels

I have an entire review gushing about these heels. They are honestly the most comfortable heels (pump style) that I’ve ever worn. They have memory foam injected into the footbed so the balls of my feet never hurt after wearing them. They are also just short enough that it isn’t a struggle to walk in them. They truly are 12-hour shoes.

They also come in a large variety of colors. Like 14 different colors and patterns. and they are always launching new seasonal colors. You’ll find at least one that you like if not more.

Madewell High Rise Denim

Another item that I’ve had and loved for years. Madewell makes great denim although it tends to be a little higher price point (between $100-150). I love this high waisted pair because it really holds everything in without stretching out. This is the 9-inch rise (I think) and probably my only pair of jeans that don’t stretch out easily. They are also a little bit thicker than my Abercrombie pair that I wear day to day, which I like especially in the colder months.

J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck

Another longtime favorite that you’re probably sick of hearing about. But they really are that good! I have an entire blog post where I really go deep on how much I love them so I’ll try and spare you now. But think of these as your winter tee shirt. Same great feel as a comfy tee but with the coverage that you need for winter and a great base layer!

GiGi New York Chelsea Clutch

I was gifted this bag by GiGi New York years ago when I went to fashion week. They used to be a really popular brand but I don’t see much from them anymore which is a bummer because their products are really nice and high quality. I actually get tons of use out of this particular bag since it is convertible from a crossbody into a clutch for the evening. It easily fits my wallet, phone, and a couple of lip products. It even fit my older, much larger wallet and phone with ease. Plus you’ve got to love that GiGi New York will monogram anything for ya!
