8 Outfits to Mentally Prepare for Fall

Happy September 1st. It seems like this year has taken forever but also I blinked and summer is over and I know I’m not alone in that sentiment. Every year I try to get excited for fall because I’m a summer girl to my core. I just love warm weather, long days, and all the sunshine. But I am trying to get excited to wear layers again.

I was going through my closet and taking stock of my fall clothing situation and I realized that I don’t have much new stuff to share because I wear the same staples over and over again. But I wanted to share these three specifically because I wear them year after year. And these three are on sale right now since the new seasonal colors are bound to be released within a few weeks.

J.Crew Sweater Blazer

Seriously just go get one of these if you haven’t already. You won’t regret it! I have this J.Crew sweater blazer in three colors and I wear them all the time because they are the perfect blend of cardigan and blazer. Especially now that we’re home all the time, I can wear one of these over a tee shirt and feel like I put in the effort to get dressed. Select colors are on sale for 60% off through this weekend

Thread&Supply Peacoat

It’s currently on sale for 50% off (only $30) but when they bring out the new seasonal colors it’s still a total steal. I got this coat when I was pregnant and none of my regular coats fit. This one was an affordable replacement that I’ve actually kept wearing since then. It’s currently available in black and olive green. It runs TTS so you can get your normal sizing and still have some space for a sweater underneath

Madewell Loafers

My loafers of life! I wear these so much in the fall that they got their own blog post. I like that they are comfortable and easy to wear like flats but they go with just about everything else in my wardrobe. I have the cognac shade but they also come in black, white, and even pink. There is a leopard print version of these loafers that is also on sale right now.

Ok, here are some fall favorites and fall-inspired outfits to start getting us all mentally prepared to wearing coats again.

8 Outfits to Get Inspired for Fall

cute winter overalls outfit - madewell loafers - how to wear overalls - comfortable and cute mom outfit

Old Navy Overalls (mine are old but they came out with a new version for this year. It’s very similar to my old pair. I’ve also heard great things about this Madewell pair) // J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck (a favorite of mine year after year. The warmth of a turtleneck but with the comfort of a tee shirt. Read my entire review here) // Madewell Loafers (these have become my go-to everyday shoes. They dress up jeans but are also totally appropriate in an office environment. Read the full review here) // Old Navy Tote Bag (another oldie. This is the newer version of my bag that is out now. I also love this reversible option which is higher quality) // J.Crew Quilted Coat (mine is old and thrifted. This one is a nicer newer version but there aren’t many sized left in the red.)

commando faux leather leggings review - cute winter outfit - Northwest Blonde - seattle style blog

Commando Leggings (they run VERY small. Size up!) // Old Navy Flannel (It’s been my go-to. See four other ways to wear it here) // similar sweater //  Chanel flats (more affordable alternative here) // London Fog trench coat (it’s my new go-to winter trench for rainy Seattle winters because it has a quilted liner for extra warmth. I’m wearing a size small. It’s currently 50% off!)

J.Crew Regent blazer review - best camel colored blazer for women - Northwest Blonde - Seattle style blog

J.Crew Regent Blazer // similar cricket sweater // Abercrombie & Fitch skinny jeans (my favorite jeans since having a baby. They are high waisted and hold everything in really nicely. They come in three different inseam lengths and only cost me $40. They are true winners) // Madewell ankle boots (just a classic fall staple however I recommend going at least half a size up is you are going to wear them with socks.) // Amazon sunglasses (These are the best $10 sunglasses out there. They look a lot like these Karen Walker shades) // similar tote bag

tissue turtleneck - j.crew cable knit turtleneck - Seattle style blog - classic style - warm fall layers

Tissue Turtleneck (my favorite winter base layer. ) // Mock-neck Cable knit sweater (a not itchy but totally cozy warm sweater) // High Waisted Skinny Jeans (these are amazing for postpartum) // similar ankle boots // similar tote bag

Sweater Blazer (runs very big. I’m wearing an XS) // Blue Check Button Down (runs TTS. I’m wearing a 6. It’s really soft thin material) // Pull-on pants (these are THE BEST pants for work and travel because they are really comfortable and don’t wrinkle. I have an entire review here) // similar leopard print shoes // affordable tote bag (this bag has held up pretty well considering the price. This is a nicer alternative for only a couple more dollars)

SWEATSHIRTJ.Crew (I had this sweater on my wishlist for a while and I’m so happy I finally snagged it. J.Crew has a bunch of these cute graphic sweatshirts that are nice for casual days) // SHIRT: old Target (I’ve had this shirt for years and love it but it looks similar to this one.) // JEANSJ.Jill c/o (These are actually denim leggings but you could never tell by looking at them. They look like skinny jeans and feel like skinny jeans only I’d recommend sizing down. You can read the entire review I wrote on them here.) // SHOES: Madewell (These loafers are insanely comfortable and only took about a day to break in. I’m normally a 7 or 7.5 in shoes and the 7.5 in these loafers fit perfectly)// BAGOld Navy (This bag has held up surprisingly well for the price. If you’re looking for another affordable option that is a little higher quality, I’d try this reversible option) // SUNGLASSESAmazon (These are some of the only sunglasses I own because for $10 they can’t be beat. Especially by someone notorious for sitting on and breaking sunglasses.

Lysse Button Down Shirt (This shirt is fantastic if you’re looking for wrinkle-resistant travel shirt. However, the fabric does take some getting used to. It’s a strange blend that feels like nothing else in my closet) // J.Jill Demim Leggings ℅ (These have been a lifesaver since having Teddy. They are comfortable like leggings but look and fit exactly like jeans. I have an entire review dedicated to them here) // Madewell Loafers (I totally love these loafers. They broke in within the first wear and they are super comfortable. I went up to a 7.5 instead of a 7 and they fit perfectly.) // Longchamps Bag (I’ve had this bag for years but just recently started using it as a baby bag. It can fit all of Teddy’s stuff plus my wallet, keys, snacks, etc and zip closed. I love it!) // Amazon Sunglasses (These are $10 and thank god because I break sunglasses somewhat frequently)
